Does Satan know the Future?

Satan can in some instances know the future and know how things will turn out, however it is not by omniscience.

The Bible doesn’t specifically answer every question we may have about Satan, but there are many things we can know by biblical deduction. We can know that Satan is not omniscient or all knowing. Satan is a created, finite being. He was created by God in eternity past as one of the most beautiful and intelligent angels ever created. We also know he was created to be an angel of righteousness, named Lucifer, and that he served God in that capacity for some amount of time. The scripture informs us that at some point he rebelled against God and caused the fall of mankind in the Garden of Eden.

As far as him knowing the future, Satan can in some instances know the future and know how things will turn out, however it is not by omniscience. He can know the future in the same way that men can know the future, primarily through 2 methods.

Firstly, through careful observation, Satan can predict a probable outcome. Remember Satan has observed the human race for millennia. For example Satan knows many men will corrupt themselves sexually if given the opportunity. That is not omniscience, that is observation. Just as weathermen do not forecast the weather by omniscience, but rather by years of observation they know if a cold front is coming or a heat wave, Satan too can seem to predict the future through the many years of human observation he has had.

Secondly, Satan knows many futuristic events simply because he reads Bible prophecy. Prophecy is future events written in advance. For example, Satan knew that Jesus would be born and would enter into ministry because the Bible has foretold, His birth, His lineage, His ministry, and His death thousands of years prior to the event. This type of knowledge is no different than that which is available to mankind. The Lord said through the prophet Isaiah, “Behold, the former things are come to pass, and new things do I declare: before they spring forth I tell you of them.“ Isaiah 42:9. This is God telling us that He will share portions of His own omniscient power in the scripture. Jesus said, “Now I tell you before it come, that, when it is come to pass, ye may believe that I am he.” John 13:19

So Satan has no ability, outside of observing human tendencies for millennia, that is not shared by anyone willing to read the Bible and believe it.
